Tooth whitening

Penryn Dental Practice, a family dental practice based in Penryn Cornwall.

To whiten your teeth we normally use 10% carbamide peroxide.  This is used in a tray or mouth guard and usually worn overnight. This process usually takes about three weeks. Some stubborn discolourations will require extra whitening and as a result treatment may take a longer time.

As the whitening will only lighten your natural teeth, any existing white fillings, crowns, bridges or veneers will not change colour.  If the contrast becomes obvious then we may need to replace these.

We will inform you of any possible issues and explain our proposed treatments and costs to you.

The results can last up to 3 years, at which time further bleaching for a few nights can top up the original result.
