As part of our oral health check we look for any signs of gum disease. Sometimes gums showing symptoms of disease bleed when brushed and can appear red and inflamed. Other times it’s the depth of the pocket between the tooth and the gum that indicates disease is present.

Gum disease can be controlled with careful brushing and flossing and regular visits to our Dental Hygienist. Our Dental Hygienist can clean away the plaque in the pockets between the teeth and gums to reduce the risk of gum disease. Our Hygienists will also help you understand and develop a preventive regime which you can use on a day to day basis.

To further promote a preventive approach we will adjust the frequency of reviews with our Hygienist according to your specific needs.
